System Design, Artificial Intelligence
Muhammad Jibran Umar is a Computer Programmer at the Directorate of IT Services, University of Rasul (UORM), where he builds and maintains the university's web platforms, mobile applications and AI-assisted student services — including MyUORM, the official University of Rasul Android application, and UOR SmartAssist, the AI assistant that answers student and applicant queries across WhatsApp and the web. Before joining UORM he was a Full Stack Software Developer at the University of Gujrat (UOG), where he built MyUOG and UOG Smart Assist. He works primarily in PHP (Laravel, CodeIgniter) and Python (Flask, FastAPI), specialising in machine learning, deep learning, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agentic AI, and is completing a BS in Information Technology at the University of Gujrat (expected 2027).
His technical focus is the application of artificial intelligence to higher-education services: retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over institutional knowledge bases, agentic AI systems that carry out multi-step tasks on behalf of students and staff, and conversational automation across WhatsApp and web channels. He also works on the deployment side of this — self-hosted model serving, GPU-backed inference, and containerised infrastructure for universities operating under constrained budgets.
